Classes

Predance

Predance is a combination class of ballet and tap for 3 and 4 year olds. This class introduces students to basic ballet and tap movements. Using many different exciting dance activities and creative props, the young dancer will begin to develop balance, coordination, and simple dance technique. Fine and gross motor skills will soon develop in this energetic class. The class will also teach the value of taking turns and working together.

Ballet/Pointe

Ballet/Pointe introduces dancers to basic exercises and steps, and they perform simple combinations at slow tempos. Over time, dancers gain technique competency, learn movement principles, develop a professional attitude and learn dance studio etiquette.

Jazz

Jazz is a very popular, high-energy form of dance and is the style that you’ll typically see on Broadway. It combines kicks, leaps, jumps, turns, and everything in between. Learn body placement, movement, expression and proper technique.

Tap

Tap is an exciting dance form that makes you the musician along with the dancer. It explores the use of smaller muscles of the feet and body, along with the larger ones. Significance is placed on the articulation of tap sounds while working to perform them “close to the floor” and on the “balls of their feet” along with “style and presentation”. Emphasis is placed on the fundamental rhythms, body alignment, level, accenting, shading and weight changes of tap dancing. The students will begin their development of the tap vocabulary. Every class includes warm ups, technique, across the floor work and a dance combination.

Modern

Modern dance explores fundamental concepts of modern technique (Horton, Graham, Limon' styles) through anatomical awareness, alignment, spatial awareness, increased strength while addressing movement quality with a ballet and contemporary base.

HipHop

Hip-Hop dance encompasses many of the classical dance styles, but is presented in a street or non-traditional format. The student is introduced to rhythm, musicality, control, dynamics, posture, and performance. Though hip-hop is usually high energy, some classes are now taught to use more isolation techniques. The goal of this class is to provide a framework of choreography in which each dancer will be able to add their own personal style and attitude.
